Pageant Prep 101 - Issue 1
Pageant 101: Pageant Preparation! Whew! Pageant season has BEGUN ladies and gentlemen! Many lovely ladies from around the IMVU world right now are getting ready to compete in pageants. So, how do you prepare leading up to the big night? I have some tips for you that just might help you win that crown! Before the Pageant: Read the instructions CAREFULLY!! If you do not follow the instructions given to help you be successful, you don’t deserve a crown. Outfit Themes – be sure the outfit you chose properly represents the theme given for the contest. You’ll ALWAYS be scored on this. If you doubt anything else, this will always be something you’re scored on. Remember, there’s more to an outfit than the clothing you put on. Each full outfit consists of: hair, skin (Sometimes make up), shoes, clothes, and accessories. Try to change each of these for each outfit. Get opinions of some of your friends. Having opinions from ladies who are not in the same competition as you is a great way to get some feedback. Take constructive criticism and make appropriate changes. Prepare a pre-written introduction prior to pageant night so you don’t have to stop and think about what to write when you’re on stage. Try to prepare as much as possible. If you know you have to explain why you chose your outfit, have it prepared. And please, please, don’t write a novel. PRACTICE! PRACTICE! PRACTICE! Good grief! If you know there are practices held for this night, and you’re given instructions ahead of time, practice before the night! This helps you build your confidence so you know what you’re doing on pageant night, and the judges aren’t waiting for you to step up to the plate. Arrive at least 15 minutes early on pageant night. This ensures you’ll be on time, loaded and not having to worry about lag – and it shows judges you’re committed. Also, ctrl+B gets rid of bubbles for lag reasons. This is all I have for pageant preparation for this issue. But keep in mind, this leads up to pageant night! So, maybe for next issue, I’ll walk you through pageant night and things to keep in mind. Have fun ladies and good luck!
