Posting Photo Links - Update!!!
Hello Models!
I wanted to give everyone an update on posting photos and what posting sites are best to use. I have been talking to and working with a lot of the awesome new models coming in and I have noticed a trend of not everyone knows how to post photos links in the group. So I am going to give everyone some tips on posting links, codes, and photo icons.
Let’s start off my going over photo posting sites. In the last photo posting tips I went over Photobucket, TinyPic, Imgnet and Post Img. I want to start off by giving you all a little update on each of the sites.
Photobucket:- Photobucket is an image hosting and video hosting website, web services suite, and online community dedicated to preserving and sharing the entire photo and video life cycle. This is still the most popular site to use for saving and posting photo links and codes. Lately it has been having some tech issues with loading up photos as well as photos randomly disappearing or coming up with a photo cannot be found error message but don’t worry Photobucket tends to fix these rather quickly.

Alternative Upload:
1. Sign up for the site and make sure that you log into your account
2. Select the blue UPLOAD button located in the top center of the webpage
3. To upload photos you can either click and drag the photo upon the center box of the webpage OR you can click on the center blue button labeled Choose Photos and Video and select your photo file
4. Once photo are uploaded (it takes a few minutes for them to upload) you can either click on the uploaded photos or go to your Library (located towards the left hand corner) and select your photo.
5. From here if you look to the right hand side panel you will see things like Email & IM, Direct, HTML & IMG. You will want to select the IMG option to post within IMVU groups.
TinyPic is a photo and video sharing service, owned and operated by Photobucket.com, that allows users to upload, link and share, images and videos on the Internet. The idea is similar to URL shortening in which each uploaded image is given a relatively short internet address. This website still remains the alternative to Photobucket. This still remains a less favorite site of mine due to its many issues with extracting photos that’s has been posted where you are doing the IMG links or direct links. I would use this site as kind of a last resort in my opinion.

Last time I had recommended the website IMGNET.COM. This site sadly has removed its full size img code feature as they had found that not many sites are no longer accepting these codes. I really hated to see this site go because it was a quick, simple, non –sign up way to post and upload quick photos for IMVU. But I have a new recommendation.
Imgbox.com is my new favorite image posting site on the market. Imgbox is a free image hosting service that stores your photos for a lifetime. You can link directly to the full sized images you upload and not be restricted by bandwidth limitations. You don't have to create a free account with Imgbox, which means you can start uploading your pictures right away. This site basically gives you it all. Short links which is a super bonus when you are posting a lot of links not to get confused with your posts, you don’t have to sign up so if you just need a quick link you don’t have to log in if you don’t want to, and lastly a reliable photo service. Highly recommended.
Uploading & Post A Photo Link:
1. Click on Select Files and select the file you wish to upload
2. Click on Content Type and select Family Safe Content or Adult Content based upon the photo you selected
3. I normally don’t mess with any other settings and leave it to default and click Start Upload
4. Once it uploads and moves to the next webpage click on Full Size and select the link you need.
Now I am going to talk about how to post links in the group. For the IMVU groups you need what is called an IMG Code. IMG is just short for Image and while using brackets [ ] posting codes in the group can sometimes be a little intimidating. But don’t worry one trick I learned is reading it like a sentence.
To post an image in a group without linking:
In writing your code you are basically telling the little magic men in the computer that you wish to post an image, that is from this location (link) and like every sentence you end it with a period.
So you code you look like this
[img]myimagelinkgosehere.com[/img]
Some things to remember is to always have the IMG in brackets ([ ]) and when you are ending your code to always use a slash (/).
To post an image in a group with linking:
Sometimes we need our images to link to somewhere. Do to so we need to user a URL Code. Url codes work the same way as IMG Codes where you need to use brackets and slashes to begin and would read as “This url is equal to this link and it needs to link this image, from this location, and end both with a period” So your link will look like so:
[url=linktowebsitegosehere][img] myimagelinkgosehere.com[/img][/url]
Last but not least some models have asked me is there a more effective way to post image icons that link to products when needing to post up links. The answer is YES. You can write it the very same way as you write a URL and Image linking but I like to use the following generator code.
What this code does is takes the product icons from creators and generates the img code for you when you select the BBCode (forums/group) option. These are already link to the products.
Once you have every product you wish to post added simply copy and page the code and add it to the group!
Hope this helps everyone and happy posting!
